The Power of Awareness
by Nadia Rafique

I work with ambitious, professional, working women whose aspirations are high and ambitions are big. You probably wouldn’t think these type of women get blocked by anything but that is exactly why they come to me. They realise they aren’t getting to where they want and that something is holding them back. We dig deep to discover exactly what the obstacle is and what is stopping them from having the levels of success they desire.
And you know what that obstacle is, almost EVERY single time? Themselves. The blocks that many women create for themselves is incredible and something they don’t even realise until we work together.
During our lives, right from birth, we are exposed to a lot of messages, influences and experiences that all shape us in some way. They shape who we become and what we think matters. They shape what our goals might be, our dreams and even our relationship with money. And we don’t even know the half of it. And then we get plunged into life with these ingrained ideas and try to make the best of it and make all the right decisions. But most of the time it doesn’t happen that way.
We face conflict, challenges and feelings that are difficult to navigate through and can end up having a profound effect on our lives unless dealt with properly. So why am I telling you this? To make you aware. Because that’s the key, becoming aware of who you are, what works for you, what is stopping you, what helps you, what is actually important to you, what you want from life and I could go on…
But life is busy and hectic and crazy and becoming aware is way down on everyone’s priority list and you are busy just trying to live life. I totally get it. And I spent the first 10 years of my career doing just this and not really confronting what I actually wanted to do with my life.
It lead me to feel unhappy in my career, stressed out at home, unfulfilled and extremely anxious about the future. And I attribute all of this to not actually knowing who I was or what was important to me in life. I was carrying other peoples values and opinions of what I thought I wanted but I was never connected to my own purpose.
Once I did the inner work and discovered who I truly am and what impact I want to have on this world, everything started to make sense and passions from earlier in my life came flooding back and I kind of came full circle. This is the power of personal discovery and awareness.
If you are feeling any resistance, conflict, unhappiness, unfulfillment or anxiety this could be due to the fact that you are not doing things that are aligned with who you actually are. It’s a long lesson to learn sometimes, but once you get there, it is the most valuable thing you will ever learn.
