October Book Club Pick: When No One Is Watching
The most wonderful time of the year has arrived! Despite our ongoing, erm, predicament, I'm trying to make the most of spooky season. Halloween 2020 is going to look quite a bit different in the US than years past; limited trick-or-treating, no big Halloween parties (I hope!), no traditional hay rides or haunted houses. But! We can still make the most of things with small, socially-distanced gatherings, ahemVOTING, scary movie nights, and good books!

I'm so excited to introduce our book club pick for the month. What is October without a few thrills? This month we're reading When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole. I'm so intrigued by our author - most of her books are focused in the romance genre, from historical fiction romance to sci-fi romance. I'm looking forward to learning more about her writing journey and her opinion on the importance of inclusivity in the romance and thriller literature space.
From Harper Collins, When No One Is Watching is "Rear Window meets Get Out in this gripping thriller from a critically acclaimed and New York Times Notable author, in which the gentrification of a Brooklyn neighborhood takes on a sinister new meaning…" As someone who was blown away by the film Get Out (and Us, for that matter!) and absolutely loves Rear Window, Cole's new best-seller sounds like a fun escape!
I hope you'll read along with us this month! And for those of you in the US or with elections coming up, use your voice and VOTE!
Happy reading!
-Emily
