THE BIG QUESTIONS
WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSIONAL TITLE?
Account Manager
WHERE DO YOU WORK AND WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR CURRENT ROLE?
I work for a Marketing Agency near Angel – on a day-to-day basis it involves planning, scheduling and delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns, as well as managing my client’s media and creative budgets.
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO DO WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD?
Much to my Dad’s amusement – ‘the person who sticks the labels on bags at the airport...’
WHAT ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU HAVE?
GCSEs, A-Levels, BSc Honours Degree.
WHAT’S THE BEST CAREER ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN?
Be aggressive in your ideas, goals and ambitions, but don’t be aggressive in how you achieve them.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE FEMALE ROLE MODEL – IF SO, WHO AND WHY?
Cameron Diaz – her energy and attitude towards female empowerment and the human body have always inspired me. She’s a huge advocate of nurturing your body to ensure it’s the best it can be and that’s something I wholeheartedly believe in. In her own words, your body is the only body you’ll ever have, so learning to understand, appreciate and care for it is fundamental in enabling you to be the most powerful, capable and confident women that you can be. She’s also got such a great giggle.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR CURRENT WORKING ENVIRONMENT?
Asides from free breakfast… The freedom, flexibility and diversity within the office. The atmosphere is really relaxed and I think that has a positive effect on people’s attitude and work ethic.
WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT YOUR CURRENT JOB SITUATION IF YOU COULD?
Travel – there’s a whole lot of the world that I still want to explore and I’d love to be able to combine the two.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF PROFESSIONALLY IN FIVE YEARS’ TIME?
In a job that allows me to be healthy and happy – a bonus if I’m earning the big bucks.
DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN BE THE SAME PERSON AT WORK AND IN PRIVATE?
Very much so – I’m not good at pretending to be somebody that I’m not and wouldn’t want to work in an environment where I wasn’t comfortable being me.
WHERE AND IN WHAT ROLES ARE WOMEN IN THE LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE AT YOUR COMPANY?
All over – we’ve got an even split of men and women across the Group and my MD and CEO are both inspirational women.
DOES DIVERSITY MATTER TO YOU?
Absolutely – life would be boring without it! We all have a lot to learn from each other and I think diversity is a key aspect of that.
HOW GOOD IS YOUR WORK LIFE BALANCE?
Good – at times work takes over but I try and stick to my contracted hours and put my work phone away at the weekend.
WHAT QUALITIES DOES BEING IN YOUR ROLE NECESSITATE?
Having initiative, creativity and the confidence to deliver work to clients at all levels of management and having a whole lot of patience.
ANY FINAL COMMENTS?
Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend never had a dog.
