WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSIONAL TITLE?
E-commerce Content Manager.
WHAT DO YOU DO ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS?
I manage the creative content that goes onto our website – designs, imagery, video and copy - working to give customers a rich and engaging experience on our website and to portray our strong brand voice online. They need to feel as immersed within the brand as they would if they walked into our stores – there is no makeup artist online, only the content!
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO DO WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD?
Be a Spice Girl, then Shakira and then Beyoncé. My sister and I had full time jobs from the age of 5, coming up with the dance routines, event locations and costumes!
WHAT ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU HAVE?
9 A-A* GSCE’s, 3 A grade A-Levels and 2.1 BA degree in Classical Civilisation from The University of Leeds.
WHAT’S THE BEST CAREER ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN?
Do what you ENJOY, you’ve got to whistle to work.
WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL AND WHY?
Cleopatra. She was an incredibly ambitious leader of a great empire. She saw what she wanted and didn’t stop at anything to get it. Even her unfortunate demise shows her passion and belief for her cause and her great self-respect.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR CURRENT WORKING ENVIRONMENT?
The “sky’s the limit” attitude! We have a very ambitious team and together we have achieved some incredible things in a very short time proving that nothing is impossible! At such a fast growing brand, every day is exciting and I have been lucky enough to work in different roles and progress through the company. And I can’t not mention our office dog – she makes everything better!
WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT YOUR DAILY WORK ROUTINE IF YOU COULD?
Other than the commute… I would like to take a lunch break to allow myself time to walk around and get some air. Most days it is a grab and go working lunch, which is not healthy for the brain or body!
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF PROFESSIONALLY IN FIVE YEARS’ TIME?
In beauty but also on the tech side. There is so much to explore here!
DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN BE THE SAME PERSON AT WORK AND IN PRIVATE?
100%. I am always have and will be myself – whatever the environment.
WHERE AND IN WHAT ROLES ARE WOMEN IN THE LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE AT YOUR COMPANY?
"Who runs the world? GIRLS!" Both our founder and CEO are female, as are a lot of the leadership team.
DOES A VARIED WORK ROUTINE MATTER TO YOU?
Yes! Doing the same thing week in week out would be mind-numbing for me. I love the days when you are away from your desk, in meetings, at a conference or a shoot. It makes you excited to put all the things into practise. I love working on our new campaigns and launches but am grateful for the BAU content that ticks over in the background so that our minds are not always focused on one thing.
HOW GOOD IS YOUR WORK LIFE BALANCE?
Good, although I always like to be switched on and have a habit of checking emails wherever and whenever. Working in retail means some periods are busier than others but seeing the results makes the longer hours’ worth it.
WHAT QUALITIES DOES BEING IN YOUR ROLE NECESSITATE?
Creativity when requesting assets or briefing designs, a commercial head to think “will this content perform”, strong organisational skills to plan ahead and have everything we need for each launch and agility to create new content quickly. In a managerial sense I need to be supportive and encouraging to my reports, to empower them to succeed in their roles.

Bronzer – it makes you look healthier and feel sassier, sexier and prettier.
