THE BIG QUESTIONS

WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSIONAL TITLE?

OK! Online Galleries Editor.

WHAT DO YOU DO ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS?

Run the galleries team where we create engaging and shareable picture feature content to help maximise the traffic to OK! Online’s website.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO DO WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD?

An artist/interior designer.

WHAT ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU HAVE?

A levels - Art (A) Business studies (A) Classical Civilisation (A) BA Hons degree: sociology.

WHAT’S THE BEST CAREER ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN?

To not be afraid to speak up and get your voice heard, as hard and intimidating as it may be.

WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL AND WHY?

My father - his tireless work ethic and ability to stay calm in any situation amazes me on a daily basis (I am sure most people feel the same about their dads!)

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR CURRENT WORKING ENVIRONMENT?

Every day is different - you never know what is going to happen hour-to-hour as most work is reactive.

WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT YOUR DAILY WORK ROUTINE IF YOU COULD?

I would like to take on more responsibility within the team outside of my section to increase my skill set.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF PROFESSIONALLY IN FIVE YEARS’ TIME?

Still working within editor but stepping away from celebrity news content and moving toward the charity sector.

DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN BE THE SAME PERSON AT WORK AND IN PRIVATE?

Absolutely, but it takes me 3-6 months to settle in and can be reserved at first.

WHERE AND IN WHAT ROLES ARE WOMEN IN THE LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE AT YOUR COMPANY?

The Head of OK! Online is a woman, as well as Head of Digital within Northern & Shell (overseeing Daily Express, Daily Star and OK! Online).

DOES DIVERSITY MATTER TO YOU?

Yes, it’s very important - I think it  immeasurably increases creativity and team moral.

HOW GOOD IS YOUR WORK LIFE BALANCE?

Very - despite having to do a few ‘nasty’ shifts such as overnight work/weekends - I generally don’t have to stay too late and rarely need to be on my work emails when I leave as my team works in a way that there are always people here when I go home.

WHAT QUALITIES DOES BEING IN YOUR ROLE NECESSITATE?

Impeccable communication skills - ability to work under pressure (often reacting to ‘breaking’ celeb news that are time specific, creativity in being able creating content that outshines competitors.

ANY FINAL COMMENTS?

A picture paints a thousand words.
